Stroke style and dashes
Width, caps, joins, order, dashes
Width
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Width | the stroke width: a slider from 0 to 20 and a box for any value |
| Non scaling | when on, the width stays the same on screen at any scale of the object |
The icon at the end of the Width row opens the stroke style menu.
The style menu
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Caps | the caps of an open stroke: butt (cut off), square (square, extends by half the width), round (round) |
| Join | the joins at corners: miter (pointed), bevel (beveled), round (round) |
| Miter limit | how far a pointed join stays pointed before it becomes beveled; default 4 |
| Order | which one is on top: fill stroke (the stroke over the fill, the default) or stroke fill (the fill over the stroke) |
Dashes
The Dash row shows the current dash pattern; the icon at the end opens its menu:
- Eight ready-made styles: solid, then equal dashes and gaps of 2, 4, 6 and 8, and three mixed ones (2 8 6 8, 2 2 8, 12 6 3). The menu stays open: you can try one row after another.
- Four boxes labeled Dash: the sequence of dashes and gaps. Empty boxes do not count; if none are left, the stroke becomes solid again.
- Offset: how far the dash pattern shifts along the stroke, a slider from 0 to 100.
