PDF
Pages, texts, images and fonts from a PDF

A PDF opened: the A4 page with the title, the image and the text, and the Document tree beside it

What it becomes

  • Each PDF page becomes a Janvas page, at its size, clipping its content.
  • The project in centimeters, scale 1:1, one unit = one CSS pixel.
  • Texts remain texts, split into blocks and columns: a label and its value in a table are two texts. When resized they wrap, and the alignment is inferred from the lines.
  • The PDF's fonts are extracted and become document fonts: they are saved in the .ja and the .jaz, and texts are drawn with their glyphs. Even drawn fonts (Type3) are rebuilt.
  • Images are read with their colors, including CMYK JPEGs.
  • Clips and masks become Clip / Mask groups.

Good to know

The PDF reader is loaded the first time it is needed. A PDF printed from Janvas on a Mac reopens with its glyphs.
