Line

The gesture
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| drag / click and click | the two endpoints: the line has a direction, from the first to the second |
| ⇧ | 45° angles from the first endpoint |
⌥ does nothing here: straight and 45° directions are already provided by snapping, with the guides that start from the first endpoint.
Typing the length
Once the first endpoint is placed, typing a digit (or the period, or the comma) opens the Length dialog with that digit already entered, in the project unit. Enter places the line at that length, in the direction you are pointing; Esc or the × closes the dialog. While you drag, a label shows the length live.
Then
You drag the endpoints with the handles, and in the Segment panel you type position, length and rotation.
