The gesture
The same as the rectangle: two corners, by dragging or with two clicks. ⇧ makes it square, ⌥ makes it grow from the center.
A page named "page N" is created (N = the number of existing pages plus one), as large as the box.
Where it is created
- Below the drawing and above the existing pages: the sheet is white and filled, and on top it would cover everything.
- Never inside another page, whatever sheet lies under the first point.
- It is created without content clipping (Clip content in the Page panel).
Then
Size, orientation, origin and clipping are changed in the Page panel. With Page layout set to rows, the pages line up again on their own: see Pages in rows.
